Tom Daley combines his two passions at the Olympics: water jumping and knitting. For the Briton, knitting is a big part of his Olympic victory.

Tom Daley can be quite relaxed – the Briton has already won his long-awaited gold medal in water jumping at the Olympic Games. In synchronized jumping from the ten-meter tower, Daley and his jumping partner Matty Lee already conceded the Olympic victory last Monday. No one can take that away from him, even if Daley is also hoping for a medal in the individual jumping.

Accordingly, the 27-year-old can calmly watch the other competitions in his sport. On Sunday, Tom Daley watched the women’s jump from the three-meter board-although there was no British jumper qualified at all. The Olympic champion devoted himself to a very special hobby in the stands: knitting.

Tom Daley is a true knitting professional

In the midst of his teammates, Daley paid almost more attention to the work with the needle than to the sporting achievements of the artistic jumpers. Apparently, the Briton was knitting on a blanket with the Olympic rings, the lettering GB and the British flag on it. A pink cap was also visible.

Daley is anything but a beginner in this field, which was already evident in the pictures. A look on the Internet shows how well he actually mastered the art of knitting: Daley presents his works on his own Instagram account. There he let his followers know after the Olympic victory that he has also packed his gold medal particularly conscientiously-in a self-knitted bag,”so that it does not scratch”.

So it could certainly become a focal point for some other athletes from the “Team GB”, after all, Great Britain has already won 33 medals in Tokyo. But not only after the victory, knitting turns out to be a useful hobby for Daley, it also plays an important role for him before the competition. His love of knitting, according to Daley, kept him “in his right mind” during the Olympics.
