PSG: Gianluigi Donnarumma transferred from Milan to Paris Saint-Germain
PSG has a new keeper: from Milan comes European champion Gianluigi Donnarumma, he is expected to earn a princely salary.
Italy’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma joins Paris Saint-Germain from AC Milan. The Ligue 1 runner-up officially announced the transfer of the striker on Wednesday. Since Donnarumma’s contract with Milan expires, he hires free of charge at PSG.
“I am delighted to be part of this great club. I feel ready to accept this new challenge and to develop myself further here. With PSG, I want to win as much as possible and bring a lot of joy to the fans,” Donnarumma said.
Donnarumma’s move to the Seine had been looming for weeks. Milan director Paolo Maldini announced weeks ago that the 22-year-old had not been able to agree on an extension of the working paper. A few days ago Donnarumma completed his medical check at PSG.
PSG: Gianluigi Donnarumma signs until 2026
The keeper, represented by star consultant Mino Raiola, signed a contract valid until 2026 in Paris. According to a report by the Gazzetta dello Sport should earn his salary in the future at ten million euros per year. He had also been traded to English top clubs, FC Barcelona and Juventus Turin as a new addition.
Whether Donnarumma will compete in Paris with the previous number one Keylor Navas, or whether the veteran from Costa Rica will be handed over, is still open.
Donnarumma won the European Championship with Italy’s national team a few days ago. In the final against England, he advanced to the match winner in a penalty shootout.
In Milan, Donnarumma has been between the posts of the professional team since 2015 and has made 251 appearances since then.
Milan had already prepared for a departure of their own growth a few weeks ago and signed Mike Maignan from PSG rival OSC Lille. For him, the Rossoneri transferred 13 million euros to the French title holder.
Donnarumma third transfer-free PSG access to Wijnaldum and Ramos
Donnarumma is with Hakan Calhanoglu (transferred to Inter Milan) the second notable departure from Milan. The Turkish international also changes because of his expiring contract without a replacement.
PSG, meanwhile, bagged the third free transfer after Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum and Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos.
