Borussia Dortmund surprisingly loses in Freiburg, newcomer Bochum celebrates his first victory. So ran the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

Cup winner Borussia Dortmund has disappointed four days after the bankruptcy in the Supercup against FC Bayern also in the football Bundesliga. The BVB lost on Saturday with 1:2 (0:1) at SC Freiburg. On the other hand, newcomer VFL Bochum celebrated a 2:0 (1:0) against FSV Mainz 05. SpVgg Greuther Fürth played against Arminia Bielefeld 1:1 (0:1), Hertha BSC lost after a late goal with 1:2 (0:0) against VFL Wolfsburg. Eintracht Frankfurt and FC Augsburg parted goalless.

Vincenzo Grifo (6. Minute) brought the sport club with a wonderful free kick from a central position in the lead. BVB pushed for the equalizer, but Roland Sallai (53.) closed a counterattack to 2:0 for Freiburg. An own goal by Yannik Keitel (59.) brought Dortmund closer, but was too little.

Newcomer Bochum celebrates first victory

In Bochum, Gerrit Holtmann (21.) was successful after a strong solo against Mainz, which was still decimated after Corona cases. The 26-year-old scored against his former club the first Bochum Bundesliga goal since May 2010. Newcomer Sebastian Polter (56.) added the second goal.

The Hertha was accompanied by the change rumors around the not standing in the squad Matheus Cunha very difficult against the Wolfsburg. The penalty kick by referee Robert Schröder after a foul first helped the hosts: Dodi Lukébakio (60.) did not let the chance take away. But Ridle Baku (74.) and Lukas Nmecha (88.) turned the game.

For the SpVgg Dickson Abiama had the great chance to lead for the upstart, but the 22-year-old missed his shot past the goal (43.). A little later Fabian Klos (45.) was successful for the guests with his head. Branimir Hrgota (50.) provided a converted penalty for the equalizer. Bielefeld’s Alessandro Schöpf looked yellow-red after a tactical foul (68.).
