Alexander Zverev has followed Dominik Koepfer into the second round of Wimbledon. The best German tennis professional had no trouble against the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, winning 6:3, 6:4 and 6:1. Against the world number 129, Zverev took only 1: 29 hours.

With a much longer session, the German tennis pro Oscar Otte and his French opponent Arthur Rinderknech have caused a curiosity with their first-round match at Wimbledon: The two qualifiers had to interrupt their duel on Monday night, because the breaking darkness had made it impossible to continue playing at the level of 9:9 in the fifth set.

On Tuesday, Otte and Rinderknech continued the game, after 3: 57 hours, the 17-year-old German stood with 4:6, 6:3, 6:2, 6:7 (5:7), 13:12 (7:2) as the winner.

Against Murray on Center Court

The opponent of Otte in the second round is Andy Murray: the Scot, who has already won twice at Wimbledon, celebrated a successful comeback at his favorite tournament the day before with a victory against the number 24 seeded Georgian Nikolos Bassilashvili.

Murray had already announced his retirement in 2019 after numerous operations, but then decided to continue playing tennis with an artificial hip. The match will take place on center court.

For Jan-Lennard Struff and Philipp Kohlschreiber, the British Grand Slam is already over: Both had to cope with difficult open draws, Struff failed in four sets to Daniil Medvedev, Kohlschreiber in five sets to Denis Shapovalov.

Wimbledon record-holder Roger Federer, who is playing for his ninth title at the world’s most important grass-court tournament this year, also had to go over five sets. Then the Swiss benefited from the fact that his French competitor Adrian Mannarino had to give up due to injury.
