He grew up in Vermont and he honed his interviewing skills as a supermarket cashier by asking Bernie Sanders “Paper or plastic?” After graduating from Syracuse University in 1999, Jeff began his journalistic odyssey at The Watertown Daily Times in upstate New York, where he impressed then-U.S. Senate candidate Hillary Clinton so much she called him “John” at the end of an interview. From there, he went to Annapolis, Maryland, where he covered city, county and state government at The Capital newspaper. Today, Jeff writes about anything and everything. Along the way, Jeff has covered wildfires, a tropical storm, 9/11 and the Dec. 2 terror attack in San Bernardino. If you have a question or story idea about politics or the inner workings of government, please let Jeff know. He’ll do his best to answer, even if it involves a little math.

When I started running, a friend warned me. She said, ” Take care of your bosom, from running it will wear out and soon hang one floor lower.”I just smiled away her comment at the time, but when I stood in the locker room a little later and tried on running bras, it still sounded. And I was careful to buy a particularly tight-fitting specimen. After that, I almost suffered from shortness of breath during the first laps, so deeply he cut into the rib cage. But I just wanted to be sure.

Stretch or not? An eternal dispute, we give the answer

Today I know that the objection of my girlfriend was simply nonsense. So what is called “fake news” today. But over the years as a runner, I’ve also learned how powerful and widespread these myths are in sports. For our podcast ” She runs. He’s running.”have we already dealt with the question a whole episode:” Is running really bad for the joints.”One of those modern legends-which is completely false, but discourages many from starting running. In the process, you will harm your joints much more if you stay seated on the sofa.

In recent weeks, more and more listeners have written to us and sent us all kinds of questions. How does muscle soreness actually arise? Does stretching prevent injuries? Or does magnesium help against cramps? That’s just a selection. All of them are important questions. There is a lot of half-knowledge circulating on the net, much is contradictory and some is simply wrong. In our new episode ” She runs. He’s running.”so let’s ask: What is it about all the running myths? What is the state of research?

There are many myths – most of them are nonsense

Some knowledge was new even to us. For example, I learned during research that female breasts still swing up and down about 84 times per kilometer when running. But also that this does not weaken the tissue, but rather strengthens it. My co-host Mike Kleiß is happy that he finally knows that stretching before running is not the best idea. But even slows down. If you want to know why this is so and otherwise learn all sorts of surprising things about running, then listen to the current episode! We look forward to you. And at the end of the podcast you know exactly what helps against muscle soreness, cramps, side stabbing and Co. I promise!
