Cristiano Ronaldo is a world star, breaking one record after another. However, a security employee of the Allianz Arena did not recognize the Portuguese.
Even non-football fans can hardly get past Cristiano Ronaldo – after all, the Portuguese has been polarizing since his European Championship debut in 2004. The superstar has just broken another sporting record: With his double in the tournament opener on Tuesday in Budapest against Hungary, the 36-year-old is now also the sole European Championship record scorer with eleven goals.
But even away from his football career, Ronaldo has broken a record that is perhaps rather unusual for an athlete. With over 300 million subscribers on Instagram, he owns the Instagram account with the most followers. Here he documents life with his girlfriend, model Georgina Rodríguez and his four children. Therefore, it is all the more surprising that Cristiano Ronaldo was not recognized by the stadium security of the Allianz Arena on Thursday,
Ronaldo stayed cool
A video has appeared on the Twitter account of the news portal ESPN, in which it can be seen how Ronaldo, along with his colleagues, runs into the protected security area of the stadium. But then a security guard ran after him to once again show Ronaldo’s accreditation, which dangled around the player’s neck.
However, the “Juventus Turin” star remained cool and calmly showed the man his accreditation,which then allowed the footballer to pass directly. Certainly the man had been stopped to control without exception anyone who enters the security area and Cristiano Ronaldo wore a mouth and nose guard with which it is even more difficult to recognize.
The 36-year-old will play Portugal in their second group game against Germany on Saturday, 18 June, at the Allianz Arena in Munich. The first match the team had won with 3:0 against Hungary.
