With Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner has received top-class competition at Chelsea. The international player still wants to stay in London.

Timo Werner apparently wants to stay at Chelsea despite the commitment of Romelu Lukaku. That reports Sport 1.

According to this, the German striker should even see the transfer Lukaku positively, as he would feel more comfortable in the position behind the Belgian. Lukaku returned to the Blues a few days ago for 115 million euros from Inter Milan, where he was already under contract from 2011 to 2014.

Inter allegedly asked Timo Werner

LoudSport 1 Inter is said to have also asked Werner about Lukaku’s succession. However, the 25-year-old has indicated that he is not interested in a change. The Italians instead secured Edin Dzeko from AS Rom as the new center forward.

In addition to the position behind Lukaku, who will be placed in the attacking center of the team of coach Thomas Tuchel, Werner could also switch to one of the two wings. In the 3-0 win against Crystal Palace in the first game of the new Premier League season, where Lukaku was not yet in Chelsea’s squad, Werner came on the nine for 90 minutes on Saturday.

The former Leipzig and Stuttgart player has a contract with Chelsea that dates to 2025. In the summer of 2020, Werner moved from RB Leipzig to Stamford Bridge for 53 million euros.
