Jeff Horseman got into journalism because he liked to write and stunk at math. He grew up in Vermont and he honed his interviewing skills as a supermarket cashier by asking Bernie Sanders “Paper or plastic?” After graduating from Syracuse University in 1999, Jeff began his journalistic odyssey at The Watertown Daily Times in upstate New York, where he impressed then-U.S. Senate candidate Hillary Clinton so much she called him “John” at the end of an interview. From there, he went to Annapolis, Maryland, where he covered city, county and state government at The Capital newspaper. Today, Jeff writes about anything and everything. Along the way, Jeff has covered wildfires, a tropical storm, 9/11 and the Dec. 2 terror attack in San Bernardino. If you have a question or story idea about politics or the inner workings of government, please let Jeff know. He’ll do his best to answer, even if it involves a little math.

Watch the video: First test, then celebrate! Berlin Corona-Test-pub may not open again.

Finally it starts again. In the Berlin neighborhood pub “Revolte” can be celebrated again since Friday evening. The decreased corona infection numbers make this possible. And the joy of this can be clearly heard by the innkeeper Hannibal Hanschke: “It’s great to finally do the real thing again, what you want to do and run this bar here and meet people and talk. And even if it’s just outside, by far, but that’s the original origin or purpose of this story. We are happy.”The pub still runs on two tracks: during the day it is a corona test centre to collect the money for the rent. However, in the evening, after the long corona-related Pause is allowed to follow, finally, the late program. And the guests can not really believe it yet.
O-TON PUB VISITOR MARTIN JENDE: “It’s been 15 months, not a year. This feels very good. Really very, very good. It’s a bit, a bit real life back. And the beer is also well tapped.”
O-TON PUB VISITOR HOLGER RUPMANN: “Yes, definitely. That’s part of it: culture, music, restaurant, pub, that’s quality of life.”
The lightness of joie de vivre has returned to the streets of Berlin. But the experts still warn against too much arrogance and recklessness. Because the pandemic is far from defeated and thus the distance and hygiene rules continue to apply.
