Elon Musk wants to finance a new SpaceX satellite through the cryptocurrency Dogecoin and send it to the moon. Last week, he criticized the cryptocurrency and called it a” rip-off”.

“Doge-1” is the name of the satellite that the US space company SpaceX plans to send to the moon next year. His name refers to the cryptocurrency Dogecoin with which the mission is to be financed. The satellite is to reach the moon on board a Falcon 9 rocket. The Canadian company Geometric Energy Corporation has not yet announced how much the mission will cost.

In space is now to be traded with cryptocurrency

SpaceX Deputy Sales Manager Tom Ochinero said last Sunday:”We are excited to send Doge-1 to the moon.” According to Ochinero, the advance of cryptocurrencies on Earth will also be continued in space: “This mission will demonstrate the use of cryptocurrencies beyond Earth’s orbit and lay the foundation for interplanetary trade.”

SpaceX founder Elon Musk was also happy about the planned mission on Twitter, writing: “Let’s go to Mooooond!!”. However, the euphoria of the Tesla boss is disturbing, just a day earlier the Tesla boss had caused the share prices of the cryptocurrency to collapse by a statement in a US comedy show. On” Saturday Night Live”, Musk described the currency Dogecoin with a market value of around 60 billion euros as a ” rip – off “and”an unstoppable vehicle that will conquer the world”.
